Exactly what it says on the tin - the Pagan Federation District includes the two
regions of Devon and Cornwall.
|
| District Information:
|
Ours is a rural area and Pagans are a bit thin on the ground in some places.
The D&C PF council is very active and we try to provide a good range of events
and services. There are open rituals in some places and we arrange Lammas picnics
and a very successful annual conference. Members from our patch have been, and continue
to be, active on PF Committee and Council.
We run various successful events to raise the Pagan profile in a positive way. We have
put copies of the Pagan Federation Information Pack in local libraries. We have a
long-running newsletter, Dark Mirror.
At our conferences, we regularly raise funds for good causes. We have supported
the Woodland Trust which has used our funds to plant trees at three woods in Devon
and Cornwall. We are currently raising funds for the Joliba Trust which works
with the Pagan Dogon people of Mali to raise funds for midwifery training and
equipment for midwives which will contribute to lowering the maternal mortality rate
and ending female circumcision amongst the Dogon.
In 1997, with the help of the national PF, we raised £2000 to create a memorial
to the last four people to be executed for witchcraft in England (they died in Exeter
in 1674). This memorial is on the Exeter City wall, in Rougemont Gardens by the
castle; please visit it and spend a few quiet moments there if you are in Exeter.

| District Attractions:
|
We have more sacred sites than you could shake a pointy wand at.
For example Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor are wonderful ancient landscapes with
stone circles and rows and standing stones.
We have lots of holy wells, dolmens, Iron-age hillforts, Neolithic enclosures
and other ancient monuments, including fogous found only in west Cornwall.
Penwith at the far west of Cornwall has a higher concentration of ancient
sites than any other part of Britain. We like to think it's a very magical place
and if you meet some of our local spirits you'll probably agree.
Please treat our sacred places with respect and don't light fires, leave
candle stubs, nightlight bases or non-biodegradable clouties.
We also have good beaches and surfing, not to mention the cream teas and
proper pasties…
And then there's
The Museum of Witchcraft, Boscastle, Cornwall, was founded in 1951 in
Castletown on the Isle of Man, by Cecil Williamson. With the help of Gerald
Gardener he refurbished the Mill to display his vast collection of Witchcraft r
elated artefacts. In 1960 the Museum moved to Boscastle in Cornwall. Graham King
purchased the Museum in 1996. Over the Sixty years that the Museum has been in
existence it has steadily grown and is now the world's largest collection of
Witchcraft related artefacts. Opening times are from Spring Equinox (Easter)
until Samhain (Halloween), Seven days a week: Monday to Saturday 10:30 -
5:30 or later, Sundays 12:00 - 5:30 or later. You can join the Friends of the
Witchcraft Museum to help support their work.
